From bugs to baby quilts.

My little sis is having a baby! And she's one of the greatest people I know. Full of laughter. Compassion. And always game for a dance party. :)

This will be my sister's first child and my mom usually makes the baby quilts in the family. But not this time, she told me. (She had other projects in mind.) Gulp. Ok.

Of course this meant some serious thought on the perfect baby quilt. Her nursery plan is white. So I landed on something classic. Vintage inspired. The block? Birds in the air. The arrangement? Take a look!

Hooray! I incorporated some whimsical (free motion) quilting, lovely Cotton and Steel fabric for the binding and I washed the quilt so it was wonderfully crinkly. (You might even notice in the bottom right, a blue fabric with lightning bugs in a jar! Eep!) And—best part—I presented it to my sister yesterday. May it bring her family continued warmth and joy.
