Two quilts: done! Hooray! And they have something in common—birds. The first: I made without a pattern, but was inspired by a photo of a similar quilt. To me, it's ocean birds in flight.
I gave it to the new owner yesterday, and couldn't be more thrilled. Who? My oncologist. With this I celebrate 5 years in remission and the quilt is but a paltry token of my gratitude. (Thanks for the small detail of saving my life, Dr. G!).
The second: is a baby quilt that hasn't exactly been gifted yet. So SHHH. But I used a very traditional quilt block, "flying geese," and tried to give it a modern spin. It works, right?
So we're left with this: an extended life. A new life. Art. Celebration. Birds in flight. A positive lightness, throughout. I'll toast to that any day.
